About

Born in Cainta, Rizal, a suburban enclave outside of Manila, Danmichael Reyes showed early interest in music/audio. Realizing that moving faders up and down on his father’s stereo system EQ changed the tonal quality of what he was hearing, a young DMR was hooked with the ability to manipulate sound. Moves to Saudi Arabia and Singapore shortly followed before his family ultimately settled in Torrance, CA, a suburban enclave outside of Los Angeles.

DMR holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in jazz piano from The New School and California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) respectively. Career highlights include Def Jam, PepsiCo, General Mills, Princess Cruises, Revive/Blue Note Records, Lincoln Center, Tastemade, Magic The Gathering, as well as a host of independently funded projects.

In recent years, Reyes has pivoted toward film scoring. He’s composed original music for Good Bad Luck (dir. Vadym Medvediuk) - premiered at HollyShorts (Oscar-qualifying), For The Love of Basketball (dir. Anthony Vasquez) — screened at LA Shorts Fest (Oscar-qualifying), and most recently, Hostess (dir. Whitney St. Ours).

Reyes also operates out of The Pie Studios in Pasadena where he records, mixes, produces, performs—or all of the above.

He’s also extremely stoked that he no longer has to write about himself in third person following this ultimate full-stop.
